Toxicity study of Peuraria minfica
has recently been conducted in male and female Wistar rats
by the Medicinal Plant Research Institute, Department of Medical
Sciences, Ministry of Public Health and by the Department
of Biology, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University.
The animals were given the suspension of root powder in water
orally at the dose range between 10-1000 milligrams per kilogram
of body weight per day continuously for a period of ninety
day.
Animal Test : There were reports
during the year 1960-61 from the British researchers to test
the effects of miroestrol; the key chemical from this herb
in the ovariectomized and the premature female rats. The results
showed the estrogenic effects of this chemical. It implied
that the sythetic estrogen or animal estrogen or even human
estrogen could be substituted by this chemical.
Human Test
: This chemical has also been tested in Human and was reported
in 1961 as a Potent Estrogen Effect. The Thai medical doctor
has tested the crude extract in the patients in the year 1941.
The result also shoed the promising application of this herb.
Skin Test :
Six Female albino rats were hair cut and injected with 0.1%
of Pueraria mirifica extracted. The test was completed and
showed no allergic to skin. It implied that the dermal diffsion
did not cause any dermal irritation to the skin. Thus, The
Pueraria mirifica Extracted can be presented in the cosmetics
without any allergic effect.

In conclusion : Skin
